Passport to the World: Morocco!

This Saturday our friend Miss Noufissa from the First Floor's New and Featured Department will share with us the culture of her native Morocco! She'll teach us some Arabic, share stories, show us what a real souk looks like, let us play dress up in some beautiful Moroccan garments, and share some couscous!

It's almost time for Passport to the World: India

Come listen to traditional stories from India! We’ll learn how Rama rescues his wife, Sita from an evil ten-headed demon and how a clever monkey outwits a hungry crocodile. Special guests will present classical Indian dances. Delicious samples of Indian food from Whole Foods will end the program! You will receive a passport with your photo. We'll stamp your passport on each visit to a new country with us! Age 5 and up.

Passport to the World: Israel is this Saturday!

Hey Everyone! Join us this Saturday at 2pm for another Passport to the World program!

This Saturday we will visit Israel along with a special guest! Come join us and bring along your library passport. If you haven't been to a PTW program yet, you'll get your passport on Saturday and you can start collecting your stamps!

UPDATE: Miss Julie asked me to mention that the craft will include building a city, and if you can, bring some lightweight recyclable material such as cereal boxes, muffin mix boxes, etc. She said that 2-3 inch sized boxes are especially good. We've already got some materials that practically everybody in the library collected for us. Thanks, everybody!

We're going to have a real bagpiper at the library!

This Saturday we are super lucky to have George Balderose join us at 2pm for this month's Passport to the World program on Scotland!


This whole weekend Pittsburgh is going to be all about bagpiping with the First Annual Balmoral Classic. The Junior Piping competition during the day is entirely free, and a great way to experience this exciting music!
